Pictures are useless content on a web page and o one of the most commonly know seo tips for images is that you have to use the <img scr="" alt="your keywords here but not more then 160 characters">
Why?
Easy, crawlers read – scan text and don’t have eyes so they cannot see the image and threat it are some sort of whitespace unless you use your alt tag and also if the image isn’t available at the time a regular user still knows what what the image is about.
Also everything that we may do can be exploited for bad use and so ver the years techniques have been refined to abuse this fact and webmasters have ’stuffed’ their ‘alt tags’ with everything they could think of – Google has, however, found ways to combat this and treats such strategies as spamming their bots – Sill it’s legal but be careful don’t go of spamming, one or two well placed words are more then enough.

This is the basic of search engine optimization (SEO). It basically is the list of what you may do and what you better don’t do because well it can get you kicked out of the index. Google, yahoo and others aren’t to happy that you fool them.
Basicaly all those things are logic but I have to start somewhere.
You may:
- Create a website which contains meta tags, text (useful or not), pics, and keywords that help improve your ranking in the index of the engines.
- Use keywords that relate to the subject which your site treats.
- If you do links, try to have links related to your site.
- Build traffic by ad campaigns, link exchange, advertising in other media if really needed (but you can do without that and just use forums and others to promote your site
- Submit search engines manually, rather than waiting for them to pick up your site, you can find different and free services to mass-submit your site to search engines.
- Use the tools engines five you like google (sitemaps(free), adsense).
You may not:
- Trick crawlers by embedding hidden content, tags, keywords in your web site. It will get you banned from the index.
- Artificially generate links to your site from sites that don’t relate to yours and also doorway pages, pages created to trap the crawler and redirecting him to you site once again.s. A good general rule of thumb is that you should submit your.
- Don’t submit your site to often to the index manually 4 times a year is more then enough for the search engine to get hold of your site. Not directly one after an other.
- Don’t resubmit your site just because you think that it’s the best in it’s category or something like that. If you open a website on flowers, don’t think it will be the first on the search page when you type flowers because well their are basically millions of sites that treat or contain the word ‘flower’. (and now mine does to btw.)
